Day 1 - Arrival in São Luís

Free time to relax and enjoy your first impressions of São Luís, home to one of Brazil’s finest collections of colonial architecture.

Day 2 - São Luís: Historic City Tour
Breakfast. São Luís is a city where history, culture and coastal landscapes come together. Its main attraction is the Historic Centre of São Luís, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
During this tour, explore its cobblestone streets lined with colonial buildings decorated with distinctive Portuguese tiles. Highlights include the Palácio dos Leões, overlooking the bay, the Metropolitan Cathedral, Mercado das Tulhas, and the historic squares that reflect the city’s rich cultural heritage. Beyond the Historic Centre, enjoy a panoramic tour of the modern Peninsula area, including a visit to Espigão Costeiro, a waterfront promenade extending into the ocean and offering beautiful coastal views, especially at sunset. The tour continues along São Marcos Beach and Calhau Beach, popular for their wide stretches of sand, restaurants and lively atmosphere. Tour duration: approximately 3–4 hours.

Day 3 - São Luís to Barreirinhas - Lençóis Maranhenses
Breakfast. Morning departure from São Luís, the capital of Maranhão, to Barreirinhas, approximately 260 km away and around a 4-hour journey.
After check-in and a short rest, in the afternoon we will head by 4x4 vehicle to Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, where we will enjoy a leisurely walk across the dunes and a refreshing swim in its crystal-clear lagoons.
We will watch the sunset from the dunes, accompanied by a selection of snacks, cheeses and cured meats, as the sky changes colour and the first stars begin to appear. A magical moment to take in the vastness and beauty of Lençóis Maranhenses. Return to Barreirinhas at around 8:00 pm.
Overnight in Barreirinhas, with breakfast included at your selected accommodation.
Breakfast. Morning departure from the hotel to the port of Barreirinhas. From there, travel by boat along the Preguiças River towards the village of Atins, enjoying the scenery of mangroves and palm trees lining the riverbanks.
The first stop is Vassouras, within the protected area of the Pequenos Lençóis, where you can enjoy a refreshing fresh coconut water and observe the monkeys that inhabit the area. Please do not feed them. Continue along the river, passing small fishing villages and enjoying beautiful views of the dunes and beaches of the Pequenos Lençóis, before reaching Mandacaru, where we will visit its lighthouse. After the visit, continue to the selected restaurant for lunch (not included), with options such as seafood, fresh fish or free-range chicken, followed by some free time to relax. In the afternoon, continue by speedboat to the port of Atins, where a vehicle will be waiting to transfer you to your pousada.

Day 4 - Lençóis Maranhenses - Preguiças River / Atins
Day 5 - Lençóis Maranhenses to Atins Tour 4x4 lagoons and dunes
Breakfast. Morning departure by 4x4 vehicle for a lagoon tour around Atins, visiting the best lagoons according to the seasonal conditions. There will be time to enjoy a refreshing swim and take photographs of the spectacular landscapes of Lençóis Maranhenses. We will then stop for lunch (not included) in Canto do Atins, where we recommend trying some of the local specialities, such as grilled prawns or fresh fish. After lunch, take some time to relax in the traditional hammocks, before continuing to explore more lagoons and landscapes in the area. The day ends with a spectacular sunset among the dunes and lagoons of Lençóis Maranhenses.

Day 6 - Atins to Parnaíba
Breakfast. After breakfast, set off by 4x4 towards Parnaíba. Along the way, we’ll make one final stop in the Lençóis Maranhenses region, in Paulino Neves, to enjoy the scenery and take some photos. We expect to arrive in Parnaíba around midday. The rest of the day is free to relax or explore the city at your own pace.

Day 7 - Delta do Parnaíba Tour, the Delta of the Americas
Breakfast. After breakfast, set out by air-conditioned vehicle to explore some of the most beautiful beaches along the eastern coast of Piauí, including Luís Correia, Atalaia, Coqueiro and Macapá. Each beach has its own character, offering a chance to discover the local atmosphere and the authentic side of this still relatively undiscovered coastline.
In the afternoon, head to the river and board a speedboat to explore the Delta das Américas. As we navigate through its maze of waterways, islands, mangroves and dunes, the landscape gradually transforms into a spectacular natural setting. Keep an eye out for the delta’s most iconic inhabitants, the scarlet ibis, known locally as the guará. Their vivid red plumage creates a striking contrast against the green mangroves and sandy dunes. As the sun begins to set, we reach one of the most memorable moments of the experience: the “Revoada dos Guarás”, when hundreds of scarlet ibises take flight and return to their roosting sites for the night. A spectacular way to end the day and experience the wild, untouched beauty of northeastern Brazil.

Day 8 - Parnaíba to Jericoacoara
Breakfast. Set off by 4x4 towards Jericoacoara, crossing rivers by ferry and travelling through a spectacular landscape of dunes, lagoons, beaches and small fishing villages, including Tatajuba and Mangue Seco. More than a transfer, this is an adventure in itself, taking you off the beaten path and offering a glimpse into local life along the coast.
Upon arrival in Jericoacoara, discover its white-sand beaches, crystal-clear lagoons and relaxed atmosphere. In the evening, explore the village’s sandy streets, bars and restaurants, and enjoy a caipirinha by the sea beneath the stars.

Day 9 - Jericoacoara - Paradise Lagoon
Breakfast. Today, explore the surroundings of Jericoacoara by buggy, one of the destination’s most popular experiences and a great way to discover its spectacular landscapes.
The route takes us to some of the area’s highlights, including the Preguiça Tree, Preá Beach, Buraco Azul, and the famous Blue and Paradise Lagoons. Enjoy the turquoise waters, towering dunes and traditional hammocks over the water, with time to swim, relax and savour fresh seafood at one of the local beachside restaurants. Return to Jericoacoara in time to watch the sunset over the beach, bringing a perfect end to a day of adventure, nature and authentic Brazilian flavours.

Day 10 - Jericoacoara - free day
Free day to enjoy Jericoacoara.
After several days of adventure, take some time to slow down and enjoy Jericoacoara at your own pace. Relax on the beach, explore the village or simply make the most of your hotel before completing the final stage of the Rota das Emoções.

Day 11 - Jericoacoara to Fortaleza
Breakfast. After breakfast, set off for Fortaleza by 4x4, following the Ceará coastline through a changing landscape of dunes, beaches and small coastal villages. The journey takes around 5–6 hours, offering plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and take in the final stretch of the Rota das Emoções. Upon arrival, Fortaleza welcomes you with its vibrant atmosphere, cosmopolitan energy and lively beachfront. With its combination of beaches, gastronomy and culture, it is the perfect place to round off your journey through northeastern Brazil. Overnight in Fortaleza, with breakfast included at your selected accommodation.
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for your journey home, bringing an unforgettable experience in northeastern Brazil to an end.

May to September: the best time to visit
Lençóis Maranhenses: The rains during the first half of the year fill the lagoons, which are at their best between June and September. July and August usually offer the most spectacular landscapes.
Parnaíba Delta: The dry season is ideal for boat trips, scenic views and wildlife spotting, including the famous “Revoada dos Guarás” at sunset.
Jericoacoara: Expect drier, sunnier weather, with stronger winds from August onwards, making this an especially good time for kitesurfing.
Getting around: With less rainfall, 4x4 journeys and routes through dunes, beaches and coastal villages are generally easier and more enjoyable.
